Everyone should have faced a situation like the one below: I don’t want to work now, I’ll do it later. In the end, you procrastinate to work until the day before the deadline. As long as you do it later, it can become a nightmare for you. How can we tackle procrastination? Here are some helpful tips for you!

1. Developing Good Habits

Developing good habits is a good way to tackle procrastination. By creating habit-forming behaviours, you can save time in the decision-making and pay attention to important tasks. There is no way for you to procrastinate. For instance, Mark Zuckerberg from Facebook and Steve Jobs from Apple Inc.

From the above, you may notice them wearing the same outfit on every public occasion. They have numerous sets of the same outfit. The rationale behind this is to prevent daily trivial decision-making, from distracting themselves in dealing with important issues such as clients’ meetings.

As long as I realize the rationale for wearing the same outfit at work, I considered it a good habit and eventually it becomes one of my daily habits. I used to spend time choosing outfits for work. Now, I struggle less in front of my wardrobe and it saves my preparation time before getting back to the office in the morning! So, developing good habits helps tackle procrastination.

Be proactive to be the first to raise and solve problems.

Begin your every move with the possible consequences in mind.

3. Put first thing first

Prioritize your work based on the importance and urgency.

2.1 Learn the “Deep Work”

Based on the book “Deep Work” written by Cal Newport, here are some ideas that may enlighten you in tackling procrastination too!

1. Give yourself some personal time and space

Detach yourself from others. Free from any distractions for deep-level working and thinking.

Create a decent working environment for yourself. For me, I recommend spending time at seaside hotels. I know right? B-)

2. Defend yourself against the benefits of the Internet

Sometimes we may get overwhelmed by the information bombarding us from the Internet, right? You will be inextricably linked to them with your smartphones on. Notifications like post updates, likes and shares, you name it! They will draw our attention with instant satisfaction, but what’s next? You are distracted from the work! So, control yourself with Internet usage, except for reading my posts on Medium! Haha!
